A perpetual globetrotter and travel writer who has experienced over 60 countries, authored 40+ guidebooks, and published 100s of articles for National Geographic Traveler, Wanderlust, Paperplane, Get Lost, Lifestyle+Travel, Voyageur, Hemispheres, The Independent, Lonely Planet, DK, Footprint, Rough Guides, Insight, Thomas Cook, AA Guides, Fodors, USA Today, and more. This blog is about the things that are cool (and not so cool) about travel, that inspire us to travel, and that are inspiring about the places we visit. It’s a space for me to reflect upon my work as a travel writer, the travel media, travel publishing, and travel industry. Not only did we not have a window, we were staring at a wall covered in brown carpet. And because we were at the front of the car, a bright light above us lighted the doorway. Trying to sleep with this bright light was a challenge and I ended up putting on my sunglasses hoping it would help. You can see the bright light and the brown carpeted wall in this picture.
Push the lever forward, and the mannequin’s clothes get more modern (and sometimes skimpier). Pull the lever back, and the clothing and bathing suit styles move towards the Victorian. And the farther forward or back that lever goes, the faster the clothing changes.
You have two options – you can join a tour, or go it alone. runs day trips from both Belfast and Dublin, exploring plenty of spots from the show. You’ll also hike around Tollymore Forest, where you’ll find the brooding and atmospheric spots where bits of bodies are found (and puppies!) The tours cost €55 from Dublin, or £40 from Belfast, and the guides are often extras from the show with some stories of their own to tell.

If your name is misspelled on the ticket, it is very likely that you need to change it and have your name corrected. Most airlines allow some misspelling on the name as long as the first 4 letters are spelled correctly. So check with the carrier you’re flying what you need to do.
Why are these trips basically free? Because you use fundraising to collect the funds. Everyone wants to help those in need. Once you know the church or group that you will be going with, mention it in your local church, send out letters to friends and family, and post a notice about it on your Facebook page. It is very likely that you will be able to raise enough funding to subsidize the majority of the trip.
